About Me

Meet Josephine — sewing enthusiast, public health professional, wife, and mother of two

Hello, I'm Josephine

I'm so glad you stopped by. Sewing has become one of the great joys of my life — a creative outlet that lets me make clothes for myself and the people I love most. There's something deeply satisfying about choosing fabric, following a pattern, and ending up with a garment that fits just right.

When I'm not at my sewing machine, you'll find me working in public health, spending time with my husband Arthur and our two children, Arthur Kyle and Hadassah, or pottering around our home here in Yorkshire, UK.

Where I'm from

I was born and raised in Uganda, Africa, and later moved to the UK. That journey shaped who I am — it gave me a deep appreciation for resourcefulness, colour, and the way clothing can express identity and culture.

Beyond sewing

Sewing may be my main creative passion, but it's certainly not my only one. I also love:

Why I blog

This space is where I share pattern reviews, construction tips, and the occasional sewing mishap (because we all have them). I especially enjoy reviewing indie patterns from designers like Love Notions, Nina Lee Patterns, True Bias, Jennifer Lauren Handmade, and Burda. My hope is that when you read a post here, you feel encouraged to pick up a project of your own — whether it's your first ever garment or your fiftieth.

I'm also passionate about natural, healthy living, and that thread runs through much of what I share. For me, making my own clothes is part of a slower, more intentional way of life.
